Hailed by the Montreal Jazz Festival as "one of the greatest female singers in the history of Canadian jazz," Cheryl Fisher is also a composer and lyricist who has recorded six CDs under her own name. A Global Music award winner for her latest disc, "Quietly There," and voted Best New Jazz Artist by the Alberta Recording Industry Association, she holds a Bachelors Degree in Education (with distinction) from the University of Calgary and a Masters Degree in Jazz Vocal Performance from the University of Miami, where she also taught. In addition to an international performing schedule Cheryl is a respected Jazz Educator and has been on the dais of several North American jazz scholarship committees. Her live performances and recordings continue to receive glowing reviews for their originality, emotional depth and outstanding technical excellence. Her recordings feature the cream of the Canadian Jazz scene including such luminaries as Tommy Banks, P.J. Perry, Terry Clarke, Neil Swainson and Reg Schwager to name a few. Her previous CD, "Moments Like This", pairs her with two genuine jazz legends: Five-time Grammy Award nominee Ira Sullivan and the Canadian Juno award-winning pianist Oliver Jones.

With 6 internationally acclaimed, nationally released CDs, Fisher is an Alberta Recording Industry Association award recipient. Her latest CD, "Quietly There," has won a Global Music Award and is in contention for a Grammy nomination.
Her live performances continue to receive glowing reviews for their originality, emotional depth and outstanding technical excellence. It’s quite obvious she is totally at home as a live performer, immediately engaging her audiences with an innate ability to make everyone in the room feel like she is performing just for them. But these special gifts aside, it’s Fisher’s pure talent as a musician that is earning her rave reviews and a growing fan base around the world. Cheryl Fisher may be compared to the greats - Blossom’s playfulness, Shirley’s attitude, June’s instincts and Joni’s flair, but she is unequivocally and undeniably an original. Cheryl performs in venerated jazz clubs and festivals throughout the U.S. and Canada, and has produced the acclaimed “JAZZ AT THE LAKE” Festival for the past 14 years with her husband, woodwind artist Eric Allison. Fisher has represented Canada in several Consulate events in the US and has been cited as a rising star by NPR Radio Network, CBC, and Shaw Cable who all have done featured presentations on Fisher. Her music is regularly played nationally by Diane Donovan ("Women in Jazz" - CKUA), Ross Porter ("After Hours"), and Tim Tamashiro ("Tonic" – CBC). Her work has been featured on film, radio and in Jazz publications in Europe, the United States, Canada and Brazil.

Cheryl's is a voice that is an intermingling of Stacy Kent, Diana Krall, Sarah Vaughn, with a bit of Bonnie Rait thrown in. Her range and her sonority have been compared to that of Miles' jazz trumpet. Her phrasing is highly individualistic and makes any rendition of a standard into an instant modern interpretation. Her voice can be strong, vulnerable and "sexy without trying" which enables her gifts as a storyteller. Cheryl’s 6th recording ‘Quietly There’ gives listeners a softer side to the singer, along with the opportunity to hear her interact with such greats as John Stowell, John Toomey and Eric Allison.
‘Moments Like This’ is an historic CD since it is the first meeting on record by Oliver Jones and Ira Sullivan. It is creative in the way it casts a fresh light on a variety of vintage standards. But most of all, it is notable for featuring Cheryl Fisher fulfilling the potential that she showed at the 2001 Montreal Jazz Festival when she was billed as “one of the greatest female singers in the history of Canadian jazz.”
‘Joyride (Life In The Jazz Lane)’ features Canada’s best jazz musicians including Neil Swainson, Terry Clarke, Reg Schwager, Eric Allison and Japan’s jazz piano giant Phil Strange.
The tour for ‘Joyride’ included one of the last performances at the Montreal Bistro and culminated with a sold out performance at the 600 seat Broward Center For The Performing Arts in Ft. Lauderdale .
With the release of ‘Too Late To Hurry’ featuring jazz luminaries, pianist Randy Porter and guitarist John Stowell, Fisher’s reputation has spread further into the international markets.
Her work continues to receive regular airplay across North America, and has been featured on film, radio and in jazz publications in Europe, the United States, Canada, Brazil, and Eastern Europe.
Her performance work and original jazz compositions have earned her a twice-aired live hour long feature on the American NPR Radio Network.
Since Fisher’s debut CD, ‘Slow Hand Jazz’ featuring Canadian jazz legends P.J. Perry on alto sax and Tommy Banks on piano, she has been a regular performer on the international jazz circuit. Both her live performances and her recordings continue to receive glowing reviews for their originality, emotional depth and outstanding technical excellence in both national and international jazz publications.
Fisher was honoured at the Festival International de Jazz de Montreal (1996) where she was billed as “Canada’s New Diva of Jazz”
